Impact of Long-term Nutrient Management Practices on Physical Properties of a Vertisol in Central India

Health of any soil is influenced by its physical properties to greater extent which has been more prominent in Vertisols due their self-till behavior. Differential application nutrients long-term may alter the at temporal and spatial scales. Inventory on effect different nutrient management practices across depths, especially central India, insufficient. Present study examined (48 years) combinations organic inorganic under soybean-wheat cropping system various (Bulk density, Particle Porosity Water holding capacity) a Vertisol India. In present study, sample were collected four depths (0-15, 15-30, 30-45 45-60 cm) triplicate from seven treatments (Control, 100% NP, NPK, NPK+FYM, N, 50% NPK 150% NPK) permanent plots AICRP LTFE (initiated 1972), Jabalpur. By differential bulk density porosity affected significantly up 30 cm depth beyond that 60 non-significantly. At all selected water capacity affected. On contrary, non-significant was observed particle managements. This indicated positive impact balance fertilizer integrated approach soil.
